Bermuda's volcanic seamount rises from deep Sargasso Sea water at the edge of the Gulf Stream, creating one of the North Atlantic's most distinctive offshore birding experiences. Dedicated trips target the Bermuda Petrel (Cahow) — extinct in the wild for over three centuries before its rediscovery in 1951, now recovering under sustained conservation on Nonsuch Island — alongside the Critically Endangered Black-capped Petrel, Wilson's and Leach's Storm-Petrels, and White-tailed Tropicbird. Spring and summer bring an Atlantic shearwater passage of Cory's, Great, and Sooty Shearwaters, plus all three jaegers and South Polar Skua.
Multiple trips per year, October–June (Cahow breeding season); check audubon.bm/events for upcoming dates; boats depart Aquarium dock at approximately 2:30 pm and stay offshore until the Cahows begin their return flights to Nonsuch Island at dusk; also runs general pelagic birdwatching trips in spring targeting migrating seabirds
