The Netherlands' North Sea sits at the funnel point for tens of millions of seabirds migrating southwest from Arctic breeding grounds each autumn, and dedicated chumming trips run from three ports — IJmuiden, Scheveningen, and Lauwersoog — across the September–October peak. European and Leach's Storm-Petrels are drawn to the chum slick together, a rare direct comparison, alongside Sooty, Manx, and Great Shearwaters and Northern Fulmar. All four skua species are regular, Sabine's Gull and Grey Phalarope are annual highlights, and Northern Gannet, Razorbill, Common Guillemot, and Atlantic Puffin round out one of Europe's most productive autumn seabird routes.
