About This Trip
The Bremer Canyon, a massive submarine canyon off Western Australia's south coast near Bremer Bay, is one of the world's great wildlife spectacles and the only Australian pelagic location that semi-regularly records Barau's Petrel. Naturaliste Charters runs dedicated pelagic birding expeditions from Bremer Bay Boat Harbour each December into the canyon's nutrient-rich upwelling waters, where Wandering, Gibson's, Shy, Black-browed, and Indian Yellow-nosed Albatrosses congregate alongside Great-winged Petrel, White-chinned Petrel, and multiple shearwater species. The same deep-water upwelling that draws Killer Whales and Sperm Whales to the canyon also concentrates extraordinary seabird diversity, making these dedicated birdwatching departures a highlight of the Australian pelagic calendar.
