About This Trip

Teuri Island, 27 km offshore from Haboro in northwestern Hokkaido, hosts over 800,000 breeding Rhinoceros Auklets — the largest colony of any seabird species in the world. Saiyu Travel's guided seabird tours include early morning boat cruises around the island's towering sea cliffs, where Rhinoceros Auklets, Spectacled Guillemots, Common Murres, and Japanese Cormorants nest in extraordinary numbers. The iconic sunset ritual of hundreds of thousands of Rhinoceros Auklets returning to their burrows after dark is one of Japan's great wildlife spectacles.
