About This Trip

Cape May Whale Watch & Research Center partners with the Cape May Bird Observatory to run dedicated offshore pelagic birding trips from the southern tip of New Jersey, venturing 40–60 miles into the Atlantic Ocean to the Wilmington Canyon area. Led by expert pelagic bird naturalists from CMBO, the 12-hour trips encounter Northern Gannets, shearwaters, phalaropes, jaegers, Sabine's Gulls, and alcids including Razorbills, Dovekies, and Atlantic Puffins during the colder months. Cape May's position at a major Atlantic flyway bottleneck makes its offshore waters exceptionally rich in both seabirds and marine mammals year-round.
