About This Trip
Kolibri Expeditions, led by Swedish-Peruvian birder Gunnar Engblom, has operated pelagic trips on the Humboldt Current coast of Peru since 2000 — the longest continuous pelagic record in the country. Trips depart from Paracas aboard twin-engined speedboats reaching 30 nautical miles offshore, where the cold, nutrient-dense upwelling of the Humboldt Current concentrates extraordinary seabird diversity. June through August is prime season for up to five albatross species including Waved and Buller's, alongside Ringed and Markham's Storm-Petrels, Peruvian Diving-Petrel, Inca Tern, and occasionally the sought-after Gray-backed Storm-Petrel.
