About This Trip

The Southport pelagics run by Birds Queensland out of the Gold Coast are among the most exciting offshore trips in Australia, targeting both the nearshore seamounts and the deeper Coral Sea on longer multi-day expeditions. Day trips head beyond the continental shelf where Flesh-footed and Wedge-tailed Shearwaters, Gould's Petrel, Black-winged Petrel, and White-necked Petrel are regular targets, while the multi-day Queensland and Britannia Seamounts voyages produce extraordinary tropical deepwater species including Kermadec Petrel, Tahiti Petrel, Collared Petrel, Band-rumped Storm-Petrel, and occasionally New Caledonian Storm-Petrel. These trips have produced some of the most important seabird records in Australian ornithology.
