About This Trip
Day @ Sea operates guided seabird safari boat trips from the jetty at Røst Bryggehotel, exploring the outer islands and skerries of the Røst archipelago — the southernmost island in the Lofoten chain and home to approximately 25% of Norway's entire breeding seabird population. The itinerary circles uninhabited outer island chains and culminates at Skomvær Lighthouse, one of Norway's most remote and bird-rich outposts, where enormous colonies of Atlantic Puffins nest alongside Razorbills, Common and Brünnich's Guillemots, Black Guillemots, European Shags, and Black-legged Kittiwakes. White-tailed Eagles are present on virtually every trip. Røst's combination of deep, open Norwegian Sea waters and the sheer scale of its seabird colonies — Vedøya, Sandøya, and Trenyken among them — makes it one of the most spectacular and least-visited seabird destinations in northern Europe. Trips depart aboard a small, canopy-covered vessel accommodating up to seven passengers, giving an intimate close-range experience of the colonies.
