About This Trip

Skua Nature's Around Hornøya excursion departs from Vardø — the easternmost town in Norway — and circumnavigates Hornøya Island, Norway's easternmost point and one of the country's most spectacular seabird colonies. The island hosts nearly 80,000 breeding seabirds from up to 11 species, including Common Guillemot, Brünnich's Guillemot, Razorbill, Atlantic Puffin, Northern Fulmar, European Shag, and Black-legged Kittiwake, with all species viewable at close range from the heated Zodiac RIB. The open Barents Sea setting also provides chances for White-tailed Eagle, and during migration the surrounding Varangerfjord is one of the best places in Europe to observe Steller's and King Eiders.
