About This Trip

Far South Expeditions' Arica pelagic departs from Chile's northernmost fishing pier into some of the warmest Humboldt Current waters, where warm-water Humboldt species mix with pelagic seabirds moving along the coast. The target list is dominated by Humboldt Current specialties: Peruvian Pelican, Peruvian Booby, Gray Gull, Inca Tern, Band-tailed Gull, and Peruvian Diving-Petrel, with albatrosses (Black-browed and Northern Giant Petrel) appearing in offshore waters. Bottlenose and Risso's Dolphins and Sperm, Fin, Sei, and Bryde's Whales are regularly recorded alongside the seabirds.
