About This Trip

Far South Expeditions' Quest for Pincoya Storm-Petrel explores the sheltered fjords and island channels of the northern Patagonian archipelago aboard a comfortable sailing boat in search of the recently described Pincoya Storm-Petrel (Oceanites pincoyae) — one of the rarest and most range-restricted tubenoses in the world, known only from the inshore waters around Reloncaví Sound and Chiloé. Other seabirds on these protected inland passages include Black-browed Albatross, Southern Giant Petrel, Sooty Shearwater, Magellanic Diving-Petrel, Chilean Skua, and South American Tern, with pods of Peale's Dolphin and South American Sea Lion typically accompanying the boat.
