Kidney Island Seabird Evening Trip

Falklands Nature, led by sixth-generation Falkland Islander and award-winning wildlife photographer Andy Pollard, runs permit-only evening trips to Kidney Island — a National Nature Reserve and one of the most important seabird colonies in the South Atlantic. The island holds one of the Falklands' largest Sooty Shearwater colonies (up to 100,000 breeding pairs), along with Rockhopper Penguins, endemic Cobb's Wren, and Falkland Steamer-Ducks. As dusk falls, the spectacle of thousands of shearwaters returning to their burrows in near-darkness is one of the most dramatic seabird events in the Southern Hemisphere.
